Uniroyal Stack Abatement

Apex Abatement & Demolition performed a complex asbestos abatement at the Uniroyal smokestack involving contaminated ash removal in a confined, deteriorating, elevated structure.

The project began with a drone-based inspection of the upper portions of the smokestack, allowing the team to safely assess conditions, verify material accumulation, and plan the work without exposing personnel to unnecessary fall or confined-space hazards. Data from the drone inspection was used to support work planning and sequencing.

Based on site conditions, Apex engineered and installed custom shoring and overhead protection systems to protect workers from falling material and structural hazards during abatement activities. All protective systems were designed to maintain full containment integrity while allowing safe access and material removal.

Apex then performed vacuum excavation and removal of approximately 50 cubic yards of asbestos-contaminated ash, utilizing specialized equipment to minimize dust generation and fiber release. All materials were properly containerized, transported, and disposed of at approved facilities in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

The project was completed with no safety incidents, no regulatory violations, and no unplanned disruptions, demonstrating Apex’s ability to execute complex, high-consequence abatement work through disciplined planning, engineered controls, and precise field execution.
